You know the song... "I try to discover.. a little something to make me sweeter.. Oh baby refrain from breakin' my heart..".
So what I did is erase the recent posts or some that just made me uncomfortable to see.. they are now in the wasteland of internet recycle bin trash that supposedly can never resurface again. I've made my peace with that, and I'm moving on. It's a new day for writing on this thing!
I don't have a dog, which in Real Age years puts me back 1.5 years, but more importantly keeps me from telling poignant dog stories of loyalty and love and fun and playfulness. All in good time.
I don't have a child either. There's some statistic that says I'll live a happier life this way, which seems just fine for now. No children in my house means I don't have adorable stories of their wit and wisdom in tender years, but it also means that I don't have little teeny socks in wierd corners of the house and yard.
What I do have is the birds, the garden, the nature of Eighteen Dodds Court. They are my little daily affirmations of goodness.. that even in sandy, terrible dry soil, a bright pink six inch zinnia can grow! That even though there are some smarty pants squirrels, I can manage to feed the chickadees and sparrows for a week (geez those bags of Audobon Seeds are spendy!) I just spent some cash on taking care of the majestic oaks in the back yard.. I feel like I'm keeping them in shape and paying back the favor for keeping me in shape.. Barretts Tree Service Guy Marty was very helpful.. and for a bargain $250. I had the old girls spruced up, trimmed up.. They look great. And the bonus plan is that now there will be a few hundred less leaves to rake up in October!
Is the word "tree" in French feminine? Je ne sais pas.
So you can now look forward to my adventures in Nature on this page... It truly is another day in paradise to be out in the yard...

I have no idea about when you can transfer ferns but I am so excited to see updates on your blog!
ok - i googled it. according to virginia tech (see link - http://www.ext.vt.edu/departments/envirohort/factsheets2/annperbulb/jul87pr3.html)
The best time to transplant ferns is in the spring about a month before the average last frost date, or in the fall a couple weeks after the average first frost date. Keep the roots covered with a protective ball of moist soil or peat moss at all times. Apply water as needed after transplanting to maintain a high moisture content in the soil.
