Movie Whatnot

So the movies I have seen in the past week include: Dreamgirls, The Departed, Running with Scissors, Shrek, Shrek 2, Lady and the Tramp, parts of Ice Age: Meltdown,Toy Story, Music and Lyrics. I now enjoy researching my movie watching at idmb.com.. or is it imdb.com.. some combination of imbd.com or something.. Good trivia, good overview, good quotes (Who doesn't love a good movie quote??)The Departed is filled with all sorts of ugly, hysterically funny quotes. Good movie, but plan on starting to watch it at like 5 pm in order to acheive maximum satisfying sleep times. I also had to re-watch a few parts to fully understand it. Russ of course, put it all together quite easily.. he was es-plaining to me what was going on during a lot of it. Is it the extensive life experience he has? The crazy Special Forces training that teaches you dangerous information? Or is he part of the Salt Lake Mob? You make the call.

Dreamgirls: It's a musical, in case you didn't know. One should know that going in. In my research at idmb.com (or whatever) I discovered (perhaps this is pointing out my lack of culture) that it was a musical in 1981. Well, kiss my grits, I was only in first grade. Some might be thinking- well, it was advertised enough... well... I have been dutifully trying to ignore mainstream news in all forms.

in the wise words of John Mayer, "When they own the information, they can bend it all they want." in reference to the news, you understand.

Russ likes cartoons. He has a billion of them. We rented Lady and the Tramp- and he promptly fell asleep. I however, fully enjoyed the 90 minutes of loveliness. A Disney movie (remastered digitally, for those RadioShack types out there) which doesn't have a woman or bitch in this case, as a victim of oppression... wait a minute.. she needed to be saved.. so oh well.. she was a victim too... oh well.. I liked it anyway. Sue me. The Shrek, Ice Age, Toy STory was in honor of Chase Stemmons, 3 yr old nephew who graced our prescence for a week during the Valentine Blizzard. He could be heard over and over and over and over and over and over screaming, "To Infinity and Beyond!!!!!!" and jumping off the couch... or just throwing himself on the floor from his astounding height of 1 meter.

Running with Scissors: Demented and Hilarious. Russ and I were pleased to see that there are more psychotic relationships than our own. We were happy to note the craziness and raise our eyebrows, and just drop our jaws. Nice. Memoir status makes it even more tantalizing to watch and think about.

Russ denotes there are daytime movies and nighttime movies. I didn't realize it, but he is correct. Flags of Our Fathers, which I stopped watching for what I hope are obvious reasons- is a nighttime movie. The Departed: Nighttime. Cartoon of Most Sorts: Daytime. I submit that Running with Scissors is a late afternoon movie- for the reason that you cannot go to bed with the insanity lingering. You must go about your normal life for some amount of time before you close your eyes to dream. the movie should end around around 5pm., or when the sun is just about down...

Okay.. Music and Lyrics. My favorite parts of the movie are when Russ was giggling. It was the greatest sound ever. Ever.

We got popcorn and Value sodas at the movies. They were good.

I also love going to the dump and dropping off all the used up life. It feels really nice to have empty bins awaiting my filling upp-age. I also got 7 bucks and change at the Spring Redemption Center. That would be 7 bucks for my bottles, not my soul.

The Daily Planet just has such terrific Scallops. I just hate it when there's a rock in there.

I am successfully avoiding Anesthesia for Opthalmic Surgery. You might not want to have your eye surgery done by me tomorrow. Not only for the reading I'm not doing, but also since I'll have been here 24 hours. In the eternal words of Laura Gravelin, "I'm on my 30." but now, it's "I'm on my 24." But "thirty" rolls off the tongue so much better and sounds infinitely tougher, so I'll use that instead. It's called artistic license. Medicine is, after all, an Art and Science.

I sound a little strung out, don't I?

Maybe it's time for bed. The last two weeks may have put a little damper on my inner notices for sleep, hunger, the basic things... so I must start paying attention again.

Yes...Oh- and I now have 3 books I want to read, in no particular order
Collapse, the fall of human societies (Jared Diamond) halfway through so far
Catch 22 Joseph Heller I hear this is hilariously funny and apropos to my life
Mans Search for Meaning Victor Frankl. A re-read when I actually have some life
experience to compare it to. As opposed to 16 yr old naivete I had when I originally read it.

Good night sweet world (wide web)
take care of russ please
