Since I've met my hair goal of not freaking out completely after a haircut, I now have set for myself a fitness goal. I'm saying it out loud, here, to anyone and everyone, that I want to finish my half of the Vermont City Marathon in 1:28. It's a lofty goal, but if I don't try, then I certainly won't attain it. I've run all other 1/2 marathons in 1:45 ... and this is in varying conditions of diuress and stress. In Baltimore, there was the balance of either stopping to tend to my excruciating calf cramp versus asking the Baltimore locals for help.... I kept running... and got exactly the same time as I did two years earlier when I thought I was "in shape." Clearly, my inner timer is set to a time that unless I kick it's ass into gear, will just run on autopilot. And so, no more autopilot..
Bring it on.
